IPL’s suspended chairman, Lalit Modi has appealed to the High Court to suppress the BCCI’s disciplinary proceedings against him. Modi has also asked the court to appoint a committee consisting of representatives which are mutually acceptable to both the parties, the BCCI and Modi.

Sports marketing agency World Sports Group has told the Indian cricket board that they will use whatever steps are essential to ensure that they do not lose their broadcasting contract of the IPL. BCCI had earlier cancelled the IPL media rights because they had alleged that the WSG negotiated an “improper” deal of Rs. 425 crores from MSM (Satellite) PTE LTD.

It has been reported in various TV news channels that the BCCI has not sent its entry to play the Indian cricket team in the Asian Games to be held this year. The Asian Games will be held in China from 12 November to 27 Novermber and cricket is said to be one of the disciplines in the games.

The Sahara Group has won the bid to continue as the sponsor of the Indian cricket team after they bid for a sum of Rs. 3.34 crores per game, equivalent to $719,000, as compared to Bharti Airtel’s bid of Rs 2.89 crore ($628, 260) per match.

The Sahara Group and Bharti Airtel were the only two firms who submitted bids to sponsor the Indian cricket team. However, this was a stark improvement over the last time the BCCI had had the entities to bid for it, because no-one had bid for it given the steep price.
