India vs Sri Lanka live streaming, scores, highlights, preview Celkon Mobile Cup 2013
Venue – Sabina Park, Kingston
Starting time – 14:30 GMT | 09:30 local
After losing a cracker to the hosts the other day, the young Indian unit will now be up against a relatively more experienced Sri Lankan side on Tuesday.
The scenario is the same for both these sides at the moment. Both are looking to finish the first leg of the tournament with a couple of points because second consecutive loss will hurt their chances of making the finals.
India will obviously be hoping for positive news on MS Dhoni’s fitness. The Indian skipper didn’t take the field against West Indies and the team surely missed his calmness.
The strain seemed to be a bit serious for sure as Dhoni couldn’t even put his foot on the ground while running.
If Dhoni doesn’t play, there will be a selection headache for Indian management. If they simply get Murali Vijay in, where will they slot him? They wouldn’t obviously like to disturb the well going combination of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order. That means they will slot him in the middle order which is not a comfortable place for an opener, particularly, for a free flowing opener.
The second possibility is that India get Amit Mishra in for Dhoni. That means Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin would have to bat at 6 and 7 respectively and that would make the tail really big.
Besides Dhoni, any more changes are not likely at the moment. These players were wonderful in England and one off day doesn’t shake their place in the XI.
Sri Lanka on the other hand might be making a few changes. Knowing Indians’ strength against the spinners, they might drop Ajantha Mendis and get Shaminda Eranga in.
There might be a change at the top of the order as well for Sri Lanka. They might think of slotting Kusal Perera there as both Upul Tharanga and Mahela Jayawardena are players of similar style. Perera on the other hand is a dasher and he can get the boundaries flowing in the power play.
The Sabina Park pitch will again be damp in the morning and batting second will be a lot easier.
