Kieron Pollard hits six sixes in seven balls video: IPL 2013
Kieron Pollard turned on the heat at the Wankhede Stadium with six sixes in seven balls off the bowling of Thisara Perera and Amit Mishra. His half-century came off only 20 deliveries that saw the Mumbai Indians win a game that they never looked like winning at one stage.
The carnage came in immediately after the strategic Time-out at the end of the 16th over. The first ball of the 17th over went for a six off the bat of Rohit Sharma before he took a single to get the strike back.
This was when Mumbai needed 55 off 22 balls. Pollard took over from here.
The first ball he faced, the third ball of the 17th over from Perera was tapped over mid-wicket for a four. This was followed by a straight-driven six, that went flat and quick and easily beat the fielder at the fence. There were two more sixes that followed off the next two balls, one was a length ball that was hit over the bowler’s head and the other was short-arm jabbed over wide long on for another maximum.
29 came from that over, before Rohit took a single off the first ball of the 18th over. Amit Mishra was at the receiving end of some punishment at this stage.
The second ball of the over was hit over long-on for a six after Mishra tried to induce him into playing a false stroke by flighting it up to the bat.
It became five sixes in as many deliveries for Pollard off the very next one when he hit his only six off the off side, it was hit inside out and went sizzling into the crowds. A dot ball spoiled the fun but off the very next one, Mishra sent down a full-toss that was pulled away for another six, his sixth in seven balls.
Pollard played out Steyn smartly in the 19th over but finished the game off in the 20th with two more sixes off Perera to notch up an easy win.
