India v Bangladesh World Cup Match 1 at Dhaka Live Score Highlights and Preview
The first game of the 2011 edition of the World Cup will be played between India and Bangladesh at Shere-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur in Bangladesh. India and Bangladesh had contrasting time at the warm-up games but all that will be history as India and Bangladesh look to get going in World Cup with a decent first game.
You can watch India vs Bangladesh live on Star Cricket and ESPN on February 19. You can also watch the India vs Bangladesh highlights on the next day on the same two channels.
Interestingly, the two sides had met in the previous World Cup as well where the Indians were stung and stunned hard as they went crashing out of the World Cup. While most Indian cricketers will play down the question of revenge, it will be on their minds and nothing short of a convincing win will do for them.
Bangladesh goes into the game with a much better chance than any of the previous World Cups. They have a team which is suited for the kind of surfaces one would find in Bangladesh – where they play all their games – and not too many would be surprised if they do manage to get into the quarter-finals at the expense of one of the better sides in the competition.
India v Bangladesh World Cup Group B at Dhaka Timings:
The India v Bangladesh Live World Cup game will be a day-night one and will start from 0830 hours GMT or 1430 hours local time.
Looking at the kind of record that the ground shows, there cannot be too much doubt that spin is going to play its part here. India have a couple of questions that they will look to answer; one which two of Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina will make it to the batting line-up. And secondly, if India goes ahead with a second spinner to partner Harbhajan Singh, which of the pace bowlers will get the sack.
Ashish Nehra has been one of the better bowlers for the side but he has looked lacklustre. He can crank up his bowling when the moment arrives but for now it will be tough battle between him and Munaf Patel and S Sreesanth. One of Munaf or Sreesanth may edge him out given that MS Dhoni may want Zaheer Khan to be partnered by a right-handed bowler.
The other issue to choose between Piyush Chawla and R Ashwin as the second main spinner, made more difficult by the manner in which Chawla bowled in the warm-up game against the Aussies.
Bangladesh will have their list of spinners stacked up; Mahmudullah to partner Abdur Razzaq and Shakib al Hasan. It will boil down to two between Shafiul Islam, Rubel Hossain and Nazmul Hossain to make it to the playing eleven and Islam and Hossain could make it through.
Why watch India v Bangladesh live?
Revenge, hardcore revenge on India’s mind from their 2007 World Cup loss. Bangladesh will still be seething from Sehwag’s ‘Bangladesh is too ordinary to beat us’ comment before a Test match in 2010.
Players to look out for:
India will look their top three, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag to do the damage. This is the first time that they will play together for 14 months now. Bangladesh will need Razzaq to do the damage with his fastish spinners which he will be expected to bowl even in the first ten overs.
