Ashes 2010: Toss-up between Callum Ferguson and Usman Khawaja

The chairman of selectors for Cricket Australia, Mr. Andrew Hilditch said that the doors are open for both Callum Ferguson and Usman Khawaja to make their Ashes debut. Both Ferguson and Khawaja are promising batsmen for Australia.

Presently, the duo has been included in the Australia A team that will take on England in Hobart in a warm-up game.

Hilditch also informed that they would shortly finalize the squad for the opening Ashes Test. The first Test starts at the Gabba from November 25. He also said that most batsmen from the Australia A side have a strong say in the Test squad.

He however said that, there is still time of 5-7 days for finalizing the squad, which means, no player can be pinpointed at this stage.

The selectors might hand some player a Test debut in this Ashes. However, Hilditch crossed the statement saying, it cannot be confirmed now if that will materialize in the very first Test itself. The selectors would, nevertheless, take into account the domestic form before taking the final call.
