Pietersen, Mascarenhas fined for Twitter rant
English cricketers, Kevin Pietersen and Dimitri Mascarenhas have been fined by the English cricket board for their Twitter rant that saw them use foul language against the selector, Geoff Miller.
However, it was not revealed how much were Pietersen and Mascarenhas fined. Pietersen had tweeted about his non-selection, while Mascarenhas had called the selector names for not having had the courtesy to meet Mascarenhas despite being in the ground.
This is the third occasion that an English cricketer has had such an issue after an under-19 cricketer had also twittered against the coach of the side, John Abrahams for dropping him.
Earlier, the ECB had said that they may look at not allowing the cricketers to use social networking websites, Facebook or Twitter. However, this had met with a lot of resistance from the English players’ association.
