Who is Mazhar Majeed?
Mazhar Majeed is the man at the centre of the spot-fixing controversy that has has hit Pakistan cricket in the fourth Test match at Lord’s against England. He has been an acquaintance of many members of the Pakistan team as a UK-based agent and represents many of the Pakistani cricketers in UK.
Mazhar, who was is allegedly, said to have accepted money on the behalf of some of the players, was finally arrested by the Scotland Yard police. He was captured on camera by a newspaper when he claimed that some of the Pakistani cricketers were in his pocket and would do as he said.
It has been said that Mazhar and his brother have been friends with many cricketers in Pakistan since 2006. It has been reported that the duo have been agents for many sponsorship and marketing contracts for these players in the UK.
It has been reported by some websites in the past that the players like Salman Butt and Saeed Ajmal had been thankful of Azhar and his brother Mazhar for the ads that they got.
Azhar has handled the contracts of Younis Khan, Abdul Razzaq, Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Yousuf, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Misbah-ul-Haq, Abdur Rauf amongst many other cricketers in Pakistan.
It has also been reported that Mazhar was very much in Australia during their ill-fated tour in which the side lost all their games to the home team.
