Format, Schedule of Champions League T20, 2010

The Champions League T20 will be played in South Africa this year and will see ten teams participate in the tournament. The format of the Champions League T20 is as follows.

The ten teams have been divided into two groups of five teams each. Each group will see the teams play against each other once, making it ten games in each of the groups. At the end of the league stage, the top two teams from each group will enter the semi-final and the winner of the semi-finals will play in the final.

The first group consists of Chennai, Warriors, Victoria, Wayamba, Central Districts. The second group has Mumbai, Lions, South Australia, Bangalore, Guyana. This is the second time Victoria, Bangalore and Central Districts have qualified for the tournament.

Last year, there were 12 teams in the Champions League T20 and the tournament, which was played in India had a different format. The 12 teams were divided into four groups of three teams each and after a round-robin, the top two from each group qualified for the Super Eights. The Super Eights were also a round-robin, post which, the top four played the semi-finals and then the final.
