Graeme Smith to quit T20 cricket?
It has been rumoured that Graeme Smith has decided to quit T20 cricket and focus his attention on the other two, main formats of the game. Smith has called for a press conference for August 18 to discuss his future.
Smith has been vocal about the need to cut down on the cricket that he has been playing, and the captaining of the side in all the three formats of the game has been proving to be a task. The South African side has not had a great ICC World T20 either, after having lost in the Super Eights of the tournament in 2007 and 2010 and having entered the semi-finals in 2009.
South Africa has already seen the resignation of Micky Arthur, the coach, and the axing of the convenor of the selection panel, Mike Procter due to some of the lacklustre performance in recent times.
In the absence of Smith, there is a good chance that one of Johan Botha or AB de Villiers will replace him as the captain of the side.
