Tendulkar’s scores 48th century against Sri Lanka
Sachin Tendulkar completed his 48th century in Test match cricket against Sri Lanka at SSC in Colombo. Tendulkar was lucky to get there after he was dropped when he was on 29, but he made the most of it, as he looked to extricate the Indians out of a quagmire.
Tendulkar’s century came off a swept four off the bowling of Suraj Randiv. The Tendulkar-century came off 167 deliveries and had 13 boundaries and a six.
Tendulkar is at the top of the century-scorers’ list, with Ricky Ponting at the number two position with 39 centuries to his name. Jacques Kallis has 35 centuries and Sunil Gavaskar had ended his career with 34 tons.
This was also Tendulkar’s ninth century against Sri Lanka, and fifth hundred of the year
