Dhoni gets into a $60 million/annum deal
MS Dhoni has signed up a two-year deal with a sports marketing firm worth Rs 2 billion, which, by current exchange rates stands at $ 42 million. This $4 million more than the deal that Sachin Tendulkar had got in 2006.
Dhoni’s sports management firm will be a JV between Rhiti Sports Management, a former Indian first class cricketer, and advertising agency Mindscapes. Rhiti Sports Management is owned by Arun Pandey, who has played first class cricket earlier.
This will ensure that Dhoni’s endorsements, and his presence on social networking sites will be managed by the JV. Mindscapes was already managing Dhoni’s endorsements but will now handle the rest of the stuff as well.
Rhiti and Mindscapes got the deal with Dhoni by beating their competitors, like IMG, Percept Group, PMG and the World Sport Group.
Last year, Dhoni’s income was a whopping $10 million, and will now earn more than $50 million per annum.
