England v Bangladesh (Eng v Bang) 3rd ODI at Birmingham, Preview, Score, Streaming, Videos, Highlights
One wouldn’t have expected this, but then, cricket, as they say, is a funny enough game. Bangladesh had lost every international that they had played this year, including ODIs, T20is and Test matches and expecting them to make a comeback in the manner that they did in the second ODI at Bristol defied belief.
Live Score and Commentary of 3rd ODI between England and Bangladesh
But, when England and Bangladesh walk out at Birmingham in Edgbaston for the third ODI, the scores will be tied at one game apiece, and will allow Bangladesh their first chance to win a series against a Test playing side.
England had gone into this series with a 3-2 win over Australia on their back, but that they did not treat this game too importantly was evident right from the time Andrew Strauss said that he hoped the side was not stretched in this series.
Now, England find themselves in a position from where they will need to stretch or face the ignominy of losing an ODI series to a side which had yet to win a single game this year!

Track Tale:
Birmingham has become a bat-first pitch in recent times, with three out of three games that had had a result won by the side taking first strike. Bangladesh also have a battery of spinners to exploit the conditions if they turn a little more slow, but for now, the pitch hasn’t given any signs of that.
Only recently, there were two T20Is played here as well, and in both games, Pakistan batted first and got to 160 plus scores. Australia failed to chase down the target successfully in either game, and that is another piece of evidence that the team winning the toss in this game will also want to bat first. Especially given the pressure game it will be.
Team News:
Bangladesh had rung in the changes for the second ODI but some of them were enforced. Wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim and Raqibul Hasan had got injured and in walked Mohammad Ashraful and an extra seam bowler, which they felt would have been a necessity under those conditions.
Given that this is the first game that the side has won in ages, it is difficult to justify any changes that may take place. The good news for the Bangladeshis is that they won the game without too much contribution from Tamim Iqbal. It was more of a concerted team effort in both the departments, with Imrul Kayes being the standout performer with the bat. Five Bangladesh bowlers took two wickets each and that is ample proof of how well all the bowlers bowled.
For England, Ian Bell will be out of action due to his fractured foot, and it will allow the second spinner, James Tredwell to make a comeback into the side. That will also allow Jonathon Trott to continue batting at the number three position, while one senses that Ajmal Shahzad also hold on to his place. Luke Wright deserves to bat above Michael Yardy in the side, given the vast gulf between the manner in which the two bat and the experience at the international level.
Tim Bresnan could be back, and he may take up the place of one of James Anderson or Stuart Broad.
The Odds Checker:
England will still go in as favourites, but it is not as disparate as the 1/10 that had earlier been offered. Ladbrokes now gives 1/8 for their win as compared to an improved 6/1 (Victor Chandler) if Bangladesh were to upset the English side!
