England v Australia (Eng v Aus) 2nd ODI, Cardiff, Preview, Score, Streaming, Videos, Highlights
The second ODI of the five-match series between England and Australia will be played at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff in Wales. England will go into the game 1-0 up but will do well to realise that only recently, the Kiwis had also taken a 1-0 lead over Australia, only to lose the next three games against the world champions to lose the series.
Live Scorecard and Commentary of 2nd ODI between England and Australia
Having said that, the Aussies will have worries of their own if the first three games on the tour are any indication. For one, their bowling has failed to look menacing enough to stop the opposition and against a batting line-up that contains the ammo to go after them, they have seemed clueless. Secondly, the Australian batting may have done its job against England, it will be aware of the fact that they need to get their starts converted into something more substantial.
England, on the other hand, would have sussed out that this is an Aussie side that is under pressure. As was exhibited in the first ODI at the Rose Bowl, once the opening bowlers were seen off, the batting became much easier for the English batsmen, and that will allow them to change strategies accordingly.
Both sides will realise that an English win at Cardiff will mean that for the first time in many years, Australia will be down in an ODI series 0-2 and will need to win all the remaining games in the series to defend their previous series win against England. One way or the other, the result seems to be a far cry from the 6-1 scoreline – in favour of Australia – the last time the two sides had met.

Track Tale:
At the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, all the games have been won by the teams batting second. However, given that this is a day night encounter, the ball could nip around in the second half, and so, for the team winning the toss, it could be a quandary. England has played here twice and both the games were rained off, whereas Australia have a 1-2 win-loss record here. Their second loss was to Bangladesh in that exciting encounter in 2005 which was probably the start of their Ashes debacle.
Team News:
England should go into the game with an unchanged line-up given their win. Andrew Strauss had departed early in the first game but he will now look to graft his innings and play his strokes against the latter half of the Aussie bowling which looks a tad vulnerable at the current moment. Eoin Morgan’s century will see him being one of the players to watch out for, while Michael Yardy and Graeme Swann will continue to test Australia.
Australia is a side not known to panic. And so, despite the loss, the playing eleven should remain the same. However, that may not be the case, as they will look to probably get in Steven Smith in place of Nathan Hauritz, while Andy McKay could be given a chance in place of the debutant Hazlewood.
Of course, the return to form of Michael Clarke will be welcome. But given that he had failed to accelerate in the dying overs of the game will mean that the side will look up to Cameron White and Michael Hussey to provide the necessary impetus in the end.
Series Standing:
1-0 to England and never has an English side looked so close to Australia in terms of on-paper comparisons.
The Odds Checker:
Australia were hardcore favourites at the start of the series, but for now, they are only marginally ahead. 888Sport offers 10/11 for their win as compared to the 1/1 (Ladbrokes) if England triumph.
