England beat Australia to win World T20
Craig Kieswetter came to the party when it really mattered as England lifted their first ever World Cup tournament in the history of cricket. England beat Australia in the final of the ICC World T20 to win the World T20 cricket tournament of 2010.
Australia had gone into the tournament final as favourites, but right from the very start, they were put under pressure by the English bowlers. Only 47 came off the first ten overs when Australia batted, but most importantly, they had lost four wickets.
David Hussey (59) and Cameron White (30) saved the day for the Aussie, but despite the 100 runs that came off the last ten overs, the Aussies managed a mediocre total of 147 in their 20 overs.
Chasing 148 was not going to be very difficult but if you add the pressure of the World Cup final, it did look like the Aussies could make a match of it.
As it turned out, Michael Lumb was dismissed early, but Kevin Pietersen and Craig Kieswetter drive the side home with a scintillating stand of 111 runs for the second wicket. The 111 runs came off only 11.2 overs and by time Pietersen was dismissed, the Englishmen required only 30 to win off 41 balls with eight wickets standing.
Kieswetter smashed a 49-ball 63 and despite getting bowled in a manner that was so funny that it would have even made him smile, the English side was home in the end.
Kieswetter won the man of the match for his brilliant innings that set the English side apart.
