Chennai beat Punjab in a thriller to qualify for semi-final

Chennai Super Kings beat the Kings XI Punjab in the final overs of the 54th game of the IPL at Dharamshala, to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.

This also meant that the match between the Delhi Daredevils and the Deccan Chargers is now a virtual quarter-finals, with the winner going through and the losing side, crashing out of the tournament.

In order to qualify for the semi-finals by stunning everyone else, Kolkata will need to win by a huge margin of around 100 runs or with around 10 overs to spare.

Dhoni smashed a match-winning 29-ball 54 to lead the win, and finished off the win with a six. The Chennai side needed 16 runs off the last over and Dhoni hit a four, 2 and two sixes off successive balls to win the game.
