IPL will begin from first week of April in 2011
The chief of IPL, Lalit Modi has said that the next edition of the IPL will start from the first week of April. There will be ten teams in the fourth edition, and the tournament will include a total of 94 games, that will consist of 90 league games and 4 knock-out matches.
Talking to the media, Lalit Modi said, “We are going to start the 2011 IPL season a few days after the World Cup in the first week of April. We are going back to the schedule of April-May that we had in the 2008 first season. We will keep this (schedule) in future.”
The 2011 season will be immediately preceded by the World Cup which will also be played in the sub-continent – in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The World Cup Cricket will start from the 19th of February and the final will be played on the 2nd of April.
Two more teams have been added to the existing competing outfits – Pune and Kochi – and there will be a total of 94 matches, an increase of 34 ties from the ongoing edition.
