Danish Kaneira rubbishes match-fixing allegations
Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has rubbished the match-fixing allegations that have been levied against him by the media in the wake of the Essex Cricket Club admitting that two of it’s players were under scrutiny for ‘match irregularities’
Kaneria has said that his career was unstained and expressed surprise over the allegations.
Earlier, the reports said that the reason why Kaneria had returned back home earlier was because of this exact reason. However, Kaneria denied any such claim and said that he had returned back because the Pakistan Cricket Board had asked him to report for the Pentangular.
Two unknown members of the Essex team have become the subject of a police investigation into “match irregularities”.
According to the English newspaper, The Sunday Telegraph, the home-grown cricketer under investigation by Essex Police for “match irregularities” in the county cricket is Essex’s 21-year-old fast bowler Mervyn Westfield.
Westfield has played only seven first-class games so far in his career and is a medium-pace bowler.
