Preview and Live Streaming of IPL 2010 match Royal Challengers v Kolkata Knight Riders at Bangalore
The 43rd game of the tournament, and the second match of the Super Saturday, will see the Royal Challengers Bangalore host the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Both sides are on ten points, but the manner in which they got to their five wins is a stark contrast. While Bangalore won four in a row, slipped and then managed another win, Kolkata’s form has been rather patchy and they have been winning and losing with equal aplomb.
The equation for both the sides for the rest of the tournament is simple. They need to win three out of the four games to ensure qualification for the semi-finals, while a couple of wins would put them in a position from which only mathematicians can save – or sink – them!
With the game to be played away from their home, the Knight Riders’ 12th man, the crowds, will be missing and it remains to be seen what is the kind of effect it has on their performance.
Team News:
Bangalore may see some changes been made to their side. They have lost far too many games in the last few matches, and one gets the sense that the side had made a strategic blunder in shuffling things around when they were going good for them. So, things could get interesting in terms of their selection; Kevin Pietersen or Cameron White or both? Dale Steyn or an extra spinner like Roelof van der Merwe? Will Vinay Kumar be selected or will Abhimanyu Mithun get an opportunity? Tons of questions and the drawing board will be buzzing with both, Ray Jennings and Anil Kumble thinking this through really hard.
The Kolkata side, for a change could look a tad more settled. In the last match, Brendon McCullum was given a chance in place of David Hussey, but could get going and was run-out. One senses that he will be afforded another opportunity here and there is a good chance that the side may go in with the same line-up. To me, though, it does look like Ajantha Mendis could pose a tricky question. He had a good game last up, but the problem with getting him again is that the pitch at Bangalore is more suited for the likes of Dale Steyn and Charl Langeveldt.
Head-to-Head:
Kolkata, rather surprisingly leads the match-up with a 3-2 scoreline. This includes the previous game that the two sides had played against each other in this tournament, when Kolkata had beaten the Bangalore side.
The Odds Checker:
Despite the previous loss, the Bangalore team still goes into the game as favourites; 8/11 at Sporting Bet as compared to the odds of 13/10 offered for a Kolkata win.
