Ashwin bowls a carrom ball!

R Ashwin bowled a carrom ball at T Suman in the game between Chennai Super Kings and Deccan Chargers at Nagpur.

Batting against Ashwin was Suman, and after having bowled a spell of 3.4 overs of off-spin and the odd straighter delivery, Ashwin surprised everyone, including the umpire, Simon Taufel, with his carrom ball, that was a tad short, bounced on the middle and spun away from the batsman.

Fortunately for the batsman, the ball was left alone and went safely into the hands of the wicket-keeper

The Carrom-ball was invented by Ajantha Mendis, and is usually bowled by flicking the ball from the middle finger of the bowling arm.
