Preview and Live Streaming of IPL2010 match Chennai Super Kings v Mumbai Indians at Chennai
The 37th game of the third edition of the DLF IPL and as it turns out, another of those nearly, must-wins for one of the side. The other has almost gone through to the next round.
The Mumbai Indians face up to the Chennai Super Kings (and you can watch the live score and updates on this link), and for a change, the Mumbai side will be moving out of their den and face the music – and the heat – at Chepauk in Chennai. That the visitng teams have struggled under conditions that are anything but worth playing cricket in, is a foregone conclusion and it will be interesting to see how the leaders in the points table, formulate their strategy for this weather.
As the points table in the IPL looks right now, the stunning win that Rajasthan stole over the Deccan Chargers on Monday has almost made Chennai’s task more difficult and made sure that the Super Kings need to outwit the Mumbai Indians to hold a chance. The weather may be on their side, but they also need to have both the departments of the game going their way as well. Not always will a Murali Vijay keep giving them the starts they need, and it is the responsibility of some of the others – Matt Hayden – to put their hands up and get noticed.
The pitch at Chepauk will continue to not have a single blade of grass on it, which means that cows and bowlers would have a hard time surviving on it.
Team News:
Foolhardy to think that Mumbai will think of changing things around for the game. The only worry would be the weather, which should allow a bowler or two to get some rest before the all-important knock-out games. Zaheer Khan, who will also represent India later in the ICC World T20 could be excused out of this one and an Indian bowler like Dhawal Kulkarni or even an Abhishek Nayar taken in.
For Chennai, despite scoring the 240 odd that they did against the Royals, the bowling struggled to piece it together. Except the newest recruit, Doug Bollinger, none of the rest looked like creating an impression and had it not been for Albie Morkel’s batting in the previous match, he could well have made way for Thilan Thushara. Thushara may still come in given that Tendulkar could be bought out by a left-arm seam bowler, which means that the captain could have to take a hard call between him and Morkel.
Head-to-Head:
It was 2-2 at the start of the tournament, but Mumbai put one across Chennai in the first game of this tournament between the two sides to make it 3-2. Chance for Chennai to make it 3-3 now!
The Odds Checker:
Mumbai will be the favourites to win the game but even the most ardent of Mumbai followed will know that seven wins out of eight games seems too good to last; 888Sport offers 8/11 for a Mumbai win as compared to 6/5 (Paddy Power) for the Chennai side to make it through. Something tells me that Chennai’s odds seem tempting!
