Murali Vijay smashes century against Rajasthan Royals
Murali Vijay smashed a sizzling 100 off only 46 deliveries for the Chennai Super Kings against the Rajasthan Royals and propelled the side to a near match-winning score. Albie Morkel gave him ample support by completing his half century off only 26 balls.
Murali Vijay’s century was the fourth fastest in T20 cricket. He hit eleven sixes in the innings and ended his innings on 127 off 56 balls. It was the second century in this edition of the IPL after Yusuf Pathan’s 100.
Murali Vijay opened the innings with Mathew Hayden and easily out-scored him and despite losing two relatively quick wickets, he went on a six-hitting spree. The pair of Vijay and Albie Morkel added more than a 100 runs in only seven overs. Their 155 run stand came off 66 balls.
Vijay’s previous highest total was 78 off 39 balls that he had hit against the Bangalore side in the previous game.
The highest score in all T20 is 260, by SL against Kenya, and the highest IPL total before this was 240 by Chennai against Punjab.
