Gautam Gambhir bats for Yuvraj Singh
Writing in his column for a daily in India, the Hindustan Times, Gautam Gambhir has backed Yuvraj Singh to come good and criticised those who have been overly critical of the batsman. Yuvraj Singh has struggled in the IPL so far, scoring 130 runs at an average of around 18.
Gambhir has said that Yuvraj Singh has been a match-winner for the Indian side for a long time, and just because he has been out of form does not mean that he was a less excellent cricketer.
The opening batsman from India also said that the media and the others needed to respect the privacy of the man, and allow him some space and not pillory him when he was down.
Talking of the IPL itself, Gambhir writes in the newspaper that he had nothing against the entertainment side of the tournament, but for him it was only cricket that counted.
Earlier, Gambhir had been reprimanded by Lalit Modi for calling Rajasthan an ordinary side after the end of the game between Rajasthan and Delhi.
