Dave Warner scores century for Delhi Daredevils
Dave Warner completed his first ever century in the IPL, as he slammed a 100 in Delhi Daredevils’ seventh game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The knock came off 66 balls, after he had taken 29 deliveries to get to his half century.
Batting first, Delhi lost their first couple of wickets of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, but that did not deter Warner from playing some delectable strokes in his innings. It consisted of 9 fours and 4 sixes.
Warner was almost dismissed on 96 when he offered a caught and bowled to Murali Kartik, who gleefully accepted it. However, the third umpire ruled that the ball had touched the ground before Kartik caught it.
Warner’s earlier highest score in the T20 format was 89 that he had scored against South Africa in a T20I at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In the 49 previous games in this format, Warner has an average of more than 30, but more importantly, a strike-rate of around 150 runs per 100 balls.
Yusuf Pathan had scored the first century of the IPL this year.
