Preview and Live Streaming of IPL2010 match Kings XI Punjab v Kolkata Knight Riders at Mohali

This is a new battle for the wooden spoon for this edition of the IPL. With Rajasthan Royals having won three games in a row and gone to the top of the table, Kings XI Punjab will try their best to win their second game in this IPL against the Kolkata Knight Riders; two sides looking as off the boil as a kettle of tea in deep freeze.

Kolkata batted reasonably well against Mumbai thanks to a Chris Gayle surprise. He took his time to get going and in the end, made a 75, which helped the total get up to the mark that the Knight Riders should have been satisfied with. As it turned out, the Mumbai Indians proved to be a tad better and won with ease. Punjab’s story has been a sorry one. Amidst rumours of stake sell-outs, new owners, Yuvraj’s dissensions, and horrible results, they have managed one win in five games and that was a match doled out to them by Chennai. Clearly an improvement is required.

Team News:
Punjab need something drastic. A shuffle around of the side. And there are two of the waiting in the ranks who can be used for that exact purpose; Brett Lee and Shaun Marsh. Lee looks to be a certainty to me. Whether or not Marsh plays depends on what is the combination that the side wants to go in with. Yuvraj’s form and attitude has been questioned in the media, but he always looks like a stroke away from getting back to his original self; it is Sangakkara who needs to recapture his batting. Mohammad Kaif will be a worry. Piyush Chawla’s was a surprise call-up to the ICC World T20, and he will like to prove himself to those following the game.

Kolkata may not want to tweak around too much but I got this feeling that Brad Hodge’s exclusion was unnecessary. He should have been doing the opening for the side, which would have added some more solidity to the line-up, in place of Owais Shah. Similarly, one thought that Charl Langeveldt should be recalled back as a good, death overs bowler, and dare I say, a better one than Bond at that.

Head-to-Head:
The two sides have won a couple of games each against each other. And what is surprising is that almost all matches have been close and gone right down to the wire; one that did not was a rain-effected encounter that KKR won with plenty to spare in 2009.

The Odds Checker:
This one is a surprise. Both sides go into the game at 1/1, with William Hill offering the same for Kings XI Punjab, while Extra Bet giving it to Kolkata Knight Riders. Even the betting companies are confused – about which side’s performing more miserably!
