Indian team for ICC World T20 in West Indies announced
The Indian side for the ICC World T20 has been announced. The selectors came out with the 15 member squad after meeting up in the selection meeting and made the announcement to the press. Ishant Sharma has been dropped from the side for his continual poor performances, whereas Irfan Pathan was not considered.
Surprisingly, the selectors have gone ahead with Piyush Chawla as their second spinners backing Harbhajan Singh. Rohit Sharma also finds a place in the team.
The team is as follows:
MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Ashish Nehra, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Praveen Kumar, Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, Dinesh Karthik
Srikkanth said, “This is the best team that has been selected. It has been selected based on performance only. I am Confident that team will do well. The batting is powerful, and the pitches in West Indies will suit us given that the conditions there are similar to the ones in India.”
When asked about players like Ashish Nehra and others in particular, he said, “I do not want to talk about any particular individuals.”
