AB de Villiers catch reminds of Adam Voges catch

Now, while there is a lot of difference between the manner in which AB de Villiers executed the catch yesterday at the M Chinnaswamy, and the way Adam Voges caught his, the thread that binds them together is the sheer incredulous manner in which both were caught.

We have already spoken about the AB de Villiers catch here, so I shall keep this post restricted to the Adam Voges one. (Voges, incidentally plays for the Rajasthan Royals and was the man of the match in their previous game).

The batsman was Brendon McCullum, the bowler was Ben Hilfenhaus, and the fielder, well, obviously, it was Voges. McCullum played one of his slog shots on to the long-on fence and for most part of the the ball’s journey, it was heading over Voges’ head for a six at long-on. He suddenly jumped, caught it, was about to fall over the fence and hence threw the ball up in the sky, fell over, recovered, fell, recovered again and saw the ball come down safely into his hands!

Don’t believe me, check the Voges catch here.
