Preview and Live Streaming of IPL2010 match Rajasthan Royals v Kings XI Punjab at PCA, Mohali
Till about a couple of days back, both, the Rajasthan Royals and the Kings XI Punjab would have been racking their brains. Three games played, and all three lost. Were Punjab-Rajasthan going the Deccan-Bangalore way from the inaugural edition? Were they just not good enough to compete? Had they made the wrong choices as players?
Thankfully, things seem to have changed for the two sides, Rajasthan and Punjab, in the nick of time as both recorded wins in their fourth game of the tournament to raise some hopes for their respective fans. Unfortunately – at least for one of the sides – both, Rajasthan and Punjab now face each other in the 19th game of the IPL on Wednesday for the battle for the wooden spoon. While it may not exactly be a wooden spoon for the team that goes on to win the match, because they will join the likes of Chennai, Delhi and Kolkata, who all have a couple of wins each, the team losing the game will be the only one left with only one.
Kings XI Punjab look the better team on paper, but the on-paper term is something that can be best avoided in a tournament of this nature. Rajasthan Royals have a captain whose tendency to out-think the others holds him in good stead, whereas, one look at the opposition skipper, his leadership skills are yet to be seen in the tournament. There is a clear-cut case of Kumar Sangakkara feeling the heat with his batting, and this was on show in the Chennai game when he did not bat in the Super Over – instead, sending in Pathan. Having said that, the thrilling win against Chennai would bolster the flailing spirits of Kings XI Punjab, and that of the man, who had been woefully out of batting form, Yuvraj Singh
Team News:
One cannot see the two sides make any change to the teams which have only just won a game after three straight losses. Punjab should continue to open with Irfan Pathan, though, that was a surprise in itself given that Manvinder Bisla had had a couple of decent runs at the top, whereas Yuvraj Singh’s battling knock of 40 – by his standards – would have ensured that the side would now look for more of such dazzling displays of batting. Mohammad Kaif almost seems wasted down the order and given his form, he could have easily been dropped had it not been for the win.
For Rajasthan, Adam Voges’ call-up proved to be something of a boon, and could easily have been described as the turning point, while Shane Warne used himself rather well. There is a good chance that Warne will bring himself on when Yuvraj Singh gets himself to bat, and the Yuvi-Warney battle would be something to look forward to.
Head-to-Head:
Both sides have won one game in each of the two tournaments. So, the winner will make it 3-2!
The Odds Checker:
While the previous results in this tournament (one win out of three) and the previous tournaments (2-2 head to head) show that there is not much to choose from, Punjab’s batting firepower means that they will go into the game as favourites; Stan James offers 8/11 for a Punjab win, as compared to 6/5 (Totesport) for Rajasthan.
