CDCQ – 2

Welcome to the second Cricket Diaries Cricket Quiz. If you managed to miss the first quiz, you can find it here. The rules remain almost the same (yes, like last time, there is a prize too!), except the following change. To ensure that people who see this quiz late but get the maximum, there is a twist. The person who sends the most number of right answers second, will win the ticket in case of a tie. (so if A sends all correct answers at 8 pm today and B sends all correct at 9 pm and C sends all correct at 10 pm, B will be declared the winner)

If you have the time to read the rest of the rules, do visit that above link. Else, to summarise it;
Mail your answers to editor@cricketdiaries.com. The winner will get a pass to watch an IPL game live in a Big Cinema hall in one of the following cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad and Jaipur – but everyone can participate for sure. Send in your details like address, full name and phone number in your mail so that it is easy to contact you. Here we go!

1. All the below cricketers were at the receiving end of something common that they may not have liked. What was it?
Ken Rutherford, Roshan Mahanama, Salman Butt, Adam Gilchrist, Ian Smith, Shane Warne, Mohammad Yousuf, Rumesh Ratnayeke, Ewen Chatfield, Sanath Jayasuriya, Younus Khan, Ricky Ponting.

2. Connect the following cricketers: Bhagwat Chandrashekhar, Sir Garfield Sobers, Bill Lawry, Garth McKenzie.

3. Player A played international cricket for his team for 21 years before retiring at the age of 39. However, that was not the end of his legacy as his relative B played his first ODI four years after his retirement. Rather coincidentally, both A and B had made their Test debuts against New Zealand, and while one scored a century, the other hit a half-century. B’s Test debut also saw four other players making their debuts (for either team); one of whom was C. C has a degree in management (MBA) and could have gone on to captain his team (he still may!) had it not been for his inconsistent performances. C will also probably not forget D, a Chennai Super Kings player, for having a hand in dismissing him at a very crucial juncture in a big tournament. D’s captain for his international team is E and one of E’s statemate, F was one of the under-19 World Cup winning players and now plays in the IPL for one of the costlier teams. Talking of E, there was a choice between him and another player for the national side, but the coach G of his ‘A’ side on tour to one of the countries, strongly recommended the other player. Little did G know that E would go on to captain the national side! Name A to G

4. The first time this happened in cricket was in 1957. It took 22 years for it to happen again, but in the next 22 years following the second time it happened, it has happened seven times in both forms of the game. On three of these occasions, it has happened against India, whereas an Indian was involved in it on another occasion. What are we talking about?
