Kings XI Punjab beat Chennai in Super Over after tied game

The game between Kings XI Punjab and the Chennai Super Kings ended in a tie at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Punjab had batted first and 136/8 in the 20 overs, and at one stage, the opposition looked like they were in with an easy game.

Then Hayden got out and the match went right down to the wire. Ten runs were needed off the last over, and one off two balls, but Chennai failed to make the runs and the match went into a Super Over.

Chennai batted first, and had Albie Morkel, Mathew Hayden and Suresh Raina batting in the Super Over. Juan Theron,t eh South African import, bowled the over for the Kings XI Punjab.

Chennai:

Ball 1: Juan Theron to Morkel – One Run

Ball 2: Juan Theron to Hayden – BOWLED ‘em! Slower ball, Mongoose tries to play across the line and is bowled!

Ball 3: Juan Theron to Raina – Two Runs

Ball 4: Juan Theron to Raina – SIX Runs! Across the line again, but cracked!

Ball 5: Juan Theron to Raina – OUT, caught by Mahela Jayawardene, again across the line, edged and went high in the air.

Punjab need ten runs to win the game.

Punjab:

Ball 1: Muralitharan to Jayawardene, SIX Runs!!! Four to win off five!

Ball 2: Muralitharan to Jayawardene, OUT! Caught on the boundary now. Bad shot under the circumstances! Went for glory

Ball 3: Muralitharan to Yuvraj, No run. Four needed off three.

Ball 4: Muralitharan to Yuvraj, FOUR, they win off a reverse sweep!

Juan Rusty Theron as he is known as, was declared as the man of the match for his brilliant display.
