Five bidders in line for two new IPL franchises
Five bidders are said to be in race for acquiring the two new cities for the next edition of the IPL that will be held in 2011.
Currently, there are eight teams and the IPL plans to expand the league by two teams to make it ten teams. The process was to earlier begin on the 9th of March, but was postponed due to certain clauses that were put up by the IPL in the bidding tender.
The cut-off to submit the tenders with the revised clauses had then been postponed to 5.00 pm, Friday and it is said that the five who have offered the bids are Videocon, Sahara India, the Adani Group and Cyrus Poonawala-Abhishek Shirke Consortium and a fifth bidder whose name is not known.
These five will fight it out for the two new teams and the cities for these two franchises will be one of Nagpur, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kanpur, Dharamsala, Indore, Cuttack, Gwalior and Vizag. The results should be out by Sunday afternoon.
