Raqibul Hasan banned by BCB for three months, contract nulled
Bangladeshi cricketer Raqibul Hasan, who had retired from international cricket in huff after being not chosen in Bangladesh’s 30-member preliminary squad for the ICC World T20, has had his contract revoked by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. A week after announcing the retirement, Hasan had written to the board and overturned his decision.
Raqibul Hasan had announced his retirement only on the eve of the first Test match against England, thus, shattering the plans that the Bangladeshis had made. This had drawn a serious ire of the captain Shakib-al-hasan, who had said that the Board should take serious action against such players.
The cricket board has said that not only will his contract be cancelled, but he would also not be eligible for selection for three months. This means that neither will he be a part of the ICC World T20 and nor will be on tour to England. However, he should be eligible for selection for the Asia Cup.
The board has said that he had been punished to dissuade others from repeating this mistake.
