Preview and Live Streaming of Deccan Chargers v Kings XI Punjab

Deccan Chargers will look to break their jinx in today’s game Kings XI Punjab of not having won a single game at the home venue in all IPL tournaments together. Before this game, both sides have played two matches each, and while Deccan Chargers have won one, Punjab has lost two close encounters so far.

Team News:
For Punjab, the bigger worry is their bowling, and their middle order batting of Yuvraj Singh and Kumar Sangakkara. Without the injured Brett Lee, the performance has been anything sharp with the ball, whereas both, Yuvraj and Sangakkara have not yet got going in the tournament. Sangakkara, to me, has looked a tad listless even as a captain, almost like the job has been a burden than anything else. One hopes, he does not come out next season and repeat Brendon McCullum’s words, ‘captaincy affected my batting’! The bowlers need to deliver.

For the Chargers, the form of Adam Gilchrist has been excellent. In both the games he has provided the Chargers with a start that would have warmed the fans’ hearts. But, at the other end, VVS Laxman, has almost looked like a misfit and it does look necessary that Herschelle Gibbs opens the innings in his place instead. Andrew Symonds found his touch in the previous game against Chennai and will look to continue with the same.

Head-to-Head:
It cannot get better than this for Punjab. They have won all four games against the Deccan Chargers in the two tournaments so far, and they will need to take heart from this fact.

The Odd(s) Corner:
Apart from the odds for the game, it is not surprising to find Punjab languishing at the number seven position in the overall favourites’ list, with Extra Bet offering 14/1 for them to win it from here. In the game, the Chargers go as favourites too – 8/11 at Totesport – while Bwin offers 7/5 for Punjab to record their first win.
