Mathew Hayden, Suresh Raina unveil the ‘Mongoose’

Mathew Hayden finally used his most famed, Mongoose bat, in the match against the Delhi Daredevils. However, Hayden did not use the Mongoose to begin with; he waited till about the fourth over, when he had reached 19 to unleash the bat.

The Mongoose is a new concept in bats, and has a much shorter blade the normal ones. Hayden had been talking of using it for some time, but had not done so in the first two games. Even in this game, Hayden started his innings with his normal bat but changed it after some time.

Later, Suresh Raina also brought out his Mongoose, something that he had planned to before the start of the game.

Delhi had earlier batted first and scored 185/6 in their 20 overs, and when Hayden brought out the Mongoose, Chennai was 27/1 in 3.1 overs. Parthiv Patel was the only batsman dismissed.
