Tillakaratne Dilshan to play for New South Wales Blues in KFC Big Bash T20

Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan has been signed up by the New South Wales Blues for the 2011 season of the KFC Big Bash T20 tournament. Dilshan is one of the leading T20 batsmen, whereas the New South Wales Blues were the winners of the first edition of the Champions League T20.

Dilshan currently plays for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and had represented the Daredevils in the Champions League T20. The issue for the Blues was that they did win the first edition of the tournament but have not managed to qualify in the second edition.

Dave Gilbert, the New South Wales chief executive, said, “We look forward to him playing a leading role in helping New South Wales win next season’s Big Bash and thereby qualifying for the Champions League.”
