Dhoni not worried about Chennai’s injuries, form issues
The captain of the Chennai Super Kings side, MS Dhoni has said that he totally backed the maximum four foreign player rule and that it helps in nurturing home-gown talent. He also said that the fight for places must be amongst the foreign players and not the home-grown players.
Dhoni appreciated the system which, according to him, helped growing the Indian bench strength. He cited the examples of players like Suresh Raina, Manpreet Gony, Murali Vijay and S Badrinath; all players who benefitted from the IPL.
The coach of the Chennai Super Kings, Stephen Fleming said that the team’s performance would depend a lot on how the home grown talent plays for the side. Already, they have lost out on Jacob Oram and Andrew Flintoff, both of whom will miss the whole tournament, while the likes of Makhaya Ntini and Muthiah Muralitharan have been out of form.
Dhoni said that he was not unduly worried about the problem and also added, “We have strong options in bowlers like Gony, L Balaji, Sudeep Tyagi and spinners like R Ashwin in our ranks.”
Chennai had finished runners-up in the first edition of the tournament, and were knocked out in the semi-finals in the second tournament.
