Pakistanis could be involved in match-fixing again
Pakistan cricket has not been in the best of its health in recent times and it seems to have plunged into further issues. There are reports that there were two cricketers involved in match-fixing from the Pakistani side, and despite the Pakistani board (PCB) accepting that it was indeed the case, they retracted the same later.
To begin with the Pakistan Cricket Board chief, Ejaz Butt said that he would be able to comment once the an inquiry committee – setup supposedly to flush out the fixers – came out with the report. When probed further, Mr Butt said that he wasn’t really saying that the match fixing was done and dusted, just that it had become more difficult to prove over the years.
He also went on to say that action had been taken against the two players involved in the match-fixing, clearly forgetting that he had earlier said that he did not want to talk about the issue. He also added that the ICC had provided information about the fixers and also provided them with proof about the same. The ICC, on its part said, “The ICC is unaware of the existence of any such reports.”
It remains to be seen where this story is headed!
