Ejaz Butt: Pakistan will not participate in Champions League T20
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Ejaz Butt has categorically said that no Pakistani domestic side will take part in the Champions League T20. This, Butt said was because of the treatment that had been meted out to the Pakistani cricketers during the auctions for the third edition of the IPL.
None of the Pakistani players had been selected for the IPL and it had created much hue and cry in Pakistan. Questions were raised in the Parliament and it had been said that Pakistan should boycott all sports with and in India.
Butt also added that he wasn’t too sure about the future participation of any side or players in the tournaments like the IPL or the Champions League T20. Butt added that he had already spoken to the IPL chief, Lalit Modi about the issue and explained Modi his own stand-point.
Earlier, Modi had said he was confident that the Pakistan will return to play in the later editions of the tournament, but Butt expressed doubts over that. Butt said that the future course of action remained undecided.
